ECOSYSTEM
The 4 Person Eco Home and grounds cover an area of just under 2000 square metres (around half an Acre, or a fifth of a Hectare) and retains 55% of the original native trees and ground cover plants to support a diverse ecosystem.
FOOD PRODUCTION
Around 20% of the half-acre site is planted with edible, medicinal and ornamental plants for food production. The remaining 25% of the site consists of paths, trails and sustainable low-carbon living spaces, outdoor kitchen, water capture & waste water treatment ponds & ditches, and importantly, space for discussion, lectures & education about regenerative building practices focusing on Low Carbon Footprint construction.
FIVE ELEMENTS
The overall design concept considers five elements and the interactions between these elements: Land, Water, Wind, Fire, and People; with the aim of achieving self-sufficiency with regards to food, water, energy, recycling & waste water treatment.
The sustainable home is a low-carbon building with a relaxed, calming, natural aesthetic.
